Baked tuna steak

  • 2 small tuna steaks
  • 2 tbsp butter  
  • 'Shepard pie mix' from Kylemore Acres

Garlic Herbed Grilled Tuna Steak

  • 4 tuna steaks
  • 1/4 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 garlic cloves,minced
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 tsp minced fresh thyme


  1. Preheat oven to 180°
  2. Rub on 'Shepard pie mix' on both sides of tuna steak
  3. Place 2 tbsp of butter in shallow baking dish and lay in tuna steaks
  4. Bake for 12-15 min or until fish flakes easily with a fork. Baste with seasoned butter mixture 2 or 3 times during baking 


  1. Combine the lemon juice, oil, garlic and thyme. Add the tuna. Refrigerate for up to 30 min, turning occasionally
  2. Remove tuna from the dish sprinkle with sea salt and pepper. Drain and discard marinade. Moisten a paper towel with cooking oil; using
    long-handled tongs, lightly coat the grill rack
  3. Grill tuna, covered, over medium-hot heat for 3-4 min on each side for medium-rare or until slightly pink in the center
